Change Is Gonna Come

{As i write "Change Is Gonna Come" plays}

September 21st, a man was killed, a man named Troy Davis, a black man named Troy Davis.

Convicted of accusations of murdering a police officer in 1991. No evidence, nothing, but a man, a black man Troy Davis.

Lethal injection is what ended his life.

How? Why?... What are we to do? (tears fall)

READ! SPEAK! ACT! FIGHT! FIGHT! ACT! SPEAK! READ!

Do we want this to happen again? No! (heart beats faster)

If we do nothing then no results will be shown.

As a 20 year old black man, I had to witness this. Sad, yeah. Outraged, yup. Excited, absolutely to take action against this!

As of now people, right now,
can we PLEASE love one another,
can we PLEASE treat other as we would want to be,
can we PLEASE read more,
can we PLEASE be the change we wanna see, PLEASE!
PLEASE
PLEASE, IM PLEADING.

With our efforts Change Is Gonna Come. Rest In Peace a man, a black man, Troy Davis.

It's Kate!

It's Kate! So on my journey in Center City today I planned to get some blog material and do a little shopping. I got both completed!

I budgeted myself to spending under $100...I did and left with 5 pieces!

As I was leaving I ran into Kate who is a health science major at Drexel University. She proves you can have brains & beauty.
You see a sweater with hood, black jeans and Doc Martins, right?

I see...
  • over sized boy sweater with hood,
  • complete black denim,
  • unlaced Doc Martins,
  • red lipstick,
  • mini Indian style bag,
  • black see through frames
  • messy bun in mid head.
  • & of course a colored book bag to keep up her studies.
Job well done!!

Every 1st Sunday of each month Shaheed Rucker of Change Makers, Gianni Lee of Babylon Cartel & Curran J of Kings Rule Together host Arts, Beats & Eats, a networking mixer.

Arts being fashion, artwork, poetry, etc.

Beats being music.

Eats of course being food.

Along with networking, there is vending, where guest are allowed to purchase things from clothing all the way to massages.

Having attended Arts. Beats & Eats several times, I am beyond proud of the professionalism displayed from the guest, the gratitude of the gentlemen and overall message. I always leave with one new contact that I am sure to work with in the future.

If you never attended your missing something exceptional & if your in the career field of fashion it is a must attend!

So This What Happened On "The Field Trip"!!

On Sunday, May 1st Founder/Creative Director, Taji Nahl of clothing brand House of Ra'oof, took us on a "Field Trip" to Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia to show off his new line of Men'swear.

It all started at his studio on 20th & Pine where the models were prepped, food was spread out and photographs were taken. There was a line-up of 12 male models all decked out in House of Ra'oofs one of a kind pieces.

As a group we all traveled from the studio to Rittenhouse Square . You should have seen the pedestrians faces.

In Taji's words, this event was "epic". I personally was lost for words. The execution, professionalism and authenticity wowed me!

If you weren't there you missed something great. Well now all you can do is take a look at some of the people who came out, especially the one's in there shades! Until Next time!

She stops and agrees to put on some dark shades for me and take a picture for the blog.

So This What Happened!!

It's February 9th & I had the privilege to attend Temple Universities "The World's Runway" A Multicultural Fashion Show & Talent Showcase sponsored by The Progressive NAACP.

Multicultural is a great adjective for this diverse show. The show took us from Asia all the way to South America....for FREE! There were designs that represented each country, in this case, the countries of choice were Asia, Europe, South America, Africa and North America/Canada.

By word of mouth & applause, Europe ruled the show! The designs & presentation were impressive and well thought out.

Also in the mix of the fashion were a few performances. A routine by Alpha Sigma Rho, the Temple Irish Dance Team, Poetic Presentation by Noel Scales, Step Teams and of course a few rappers were thrown in the mix. This added a little spice to the show, but then you might put a little to much spice and throw it off. They just made it =]

Lastly, of course I could not leave the house without my dark shades for these bright lights and so did the crowd!

Check out some of the pics snapped at tonight's fashion show.

So That's What Happened! I'm Out!
